How video analysis works

1. Supported formats and limits

MP4, MOV, AVI, and WEBM files up to 60 seconds and 500MB. This covers all standard TV and social formats — 15, 30, and 60-second spots.

2. What gets analyzed

Every frame is extracted and analyzed individually for cultural, legal, and brand issues. Any dialogue or voiceover is transcribed with AI speech recognition, and background music is identified via audio fingerprinting for licensing and cultural sensitivity.

3. How to read a video report

Your report includes a video player with a timeline bar below it. Colored markers on the timeline show where each flag occurs — click a marker to jump the video to that exact moment. Every flag card also shows its timestamp (e.g. ▶ 0:23) which seeks the player when clicked.

4. Video context options

Choosing the right asset context (social post, TV ad, internal) matters — regulations differ by placement. A beer bottle in a social post targeting the GCC is a different severity than the same shot in an internal training video.

5. Credit costs

Video analysis costs 8 credits per minute, calculated on actual duration and rounded up to the nearest minute. A 30-second spot costs 8 credits; a 90-second cut would round to 16.

6. Processing time

Video runs as a background job and typically completes in 2-4 minutes. You'll see live progress (extracting frames, transcribing, analyzing) and are redirected to the report automatically when it's ready.

Frequently asked questions

Why is video limited to 60 seconds?
Our current analysis covers standard advertising formats — 15s, 30s, and 60s TV and social spots. Longer-form video support is on our roadmap.
How long does video analysis take?
Typically 2-4 minutes for a 60-second video. It runs in the background — no need to keep the browser tab open.
Can you detect music licensing issues?
Audio fingerprinting identifies background music. Recognized tracks are flagged for cultural sensitivity, and tracks with unknown licensing status are flagged for your legal team to verify.
Does Creative Comparison work for video?
Yes — upload two variants and both run the full analysis, with side-by-side scores. Available on Preflight plan and above.
